The Carcass Carrier is a proposal, for a site called 'Cowgate' next to Smithfield Market (London).
The Sculpture takes as its source the meat carriers working in the market.

'THE CREEK MEN'
In 2008 I created three 8ft figures , which were then towed on a symbolic voyage up the River Alde to Snape maltings for the Aldeburgh Festival. They stayed moored in the marshes raising and lowering with the tide for the next year.

'Waxes of Creek Man 1' taken from the plaster piece mould shown above, these will now be covered in another mould and put in a kiln for a week,to allow the wax to melt out , leaving a negative cavity for bronze to be poured into.

Moulds ready for the kiln.

Puring molten bronze into the fired moulds.

'Creek Man1' sections freshly opened and water jetted after the pour.

'Creek man2' The sections are now filed and fettled and then joined together using a welder, its like a giant 3d jigsaw puzzle.

'ORION', completed 2008
Commissioned by Mr and Mrs Duncan Moor.
sited Pyrenees, South of France
‘Orion’ is a 9ft bronze figure, sited in the foothills of the Pyrenees in the South of France.
The site bears similarities to a favourite painting of Edwards’s by Nicolas Poussin titled ‘Orion’. It depicts Orion being led to ‘Helios’ the sun god by ‘Cedalion’ (son of Hephaestus the god of metal workers and therefore bronze casters!). ‘Cedalion’ is featured as a small figure guiding Orion whilst standing on his shoulders.
The incredible dawns experienced here cast a shadow onto the face of the sculpture, and continues down his head and body, allowing ‘Orion’ to regain new sight every day.
There follows a chronology of images of the sculptures development.
