Harriet and Harry Rat For this project, the ‘who’ came from an initial collaborative pencil drawing made with my grandson Harvey. The two unlikely companions, one a naively happy young girl, the other a capable and aware rat, stayed in my mind for days. The ‘where’ came from a discussion around providing a strip for an Extinction Rebellion weekly publication. The post-extinction-event setting allowed for an unwavering focus on the characters, suggested answers to their unsettling relationship, set a particular tone to their story and provided an inevitable endpoint.
